The work of human resources practitioners is never a one-person job. It takes advocacy, collaboration, and partnerships at all levels to ensure that the vision, mission, and institutional goals are met. Collaboration strengthens advocacy efforts. These efforts help bring awareness of and implementing the various resources that exist on and off campus spaces. Expertise and proficiency also come in the form of influences outside of HR practitioners.

It is important to understand the various vantage points that exist at a campus and/or district and tap into existing resources we may not know are there. Advocating for HR and partnership with HR takes many voices and efforts. In our next ACHRO Townhall, we will explore the various ways HR practitioners can leverage both internal and external stakeholder and build on the power of partnerships. While we engage in these spaces, please join an exciting and thought-provoking panel from members within our collegial spaces, including:

  • Chief Student Services Officer spaces
  • Chief Instructional Officer spaces
  • Chief Business/Financial Officers spaces
  • Chief Executive Officers spaces
  • Representative(s) from our California Community College Chancellor’s Office

Professional Learning Outcomes:

  • Find ways to engage and promote various resources that exist on and off campus;
  • Enhance the collegiality experience for HR practitioners utilizing the various vantage points that exist at the Executive level and leveraging those points;
  • Explore ways in which to create a culture of shared responsibilities amongst executive leaders on campus and/or the District;
  • Find ways to encourage and increase dialogue between HR practitioners and other campus leaders;

“Power is nothing unless you can turn it into influence.” – Dr. Condoleeza Rice

The ACHRO Town Halls also serve a way to build community and networking opportunities amongst human resources professionals throughout the state of California. ACHRO Town Halls are led by leaders from Bay 10, Central 14, North 14 and Southern 30.
